Yorkshire was denied the opportunity to vote on having a Yorkshire Assembly back in 2004 after the NE rejected the idea in a pilot referendum. How the Government thought that a decision for Yorkshire being effectively made by another region altogether amounts to democracy is something we at YDM shall never understand. However, Tim Norman, a Councillor from Bridlington in the East Riding of Yorkshire, is now calling for Yorkshire to, at long last, enjoy that democracy by being given the opportunity to vote for a Yorkshire Parliament in a referendum.
